Frequently Asked Questions
How do we schedule lessons? Once you attend the 8-hour class you are assigned an instructor who will contact you the following week and begin scheduling your lessons.
What if I forget about a lesson or need to cancel? Our system sends you an email reminder 48-hours before to remind you and the instructor reaches out the day before to confirm. If you need to cancel, please give us a 24-hour notice if possible. A cancellation the day of or once the instructor has arrived, is the same as a “No-Show” and you will be charged a $30 fee which must be paid before your next lesson.
Can I do my behind the wheel training before the 8 hour class? We require that you complete the classroom portion first because we cover important material that is then used while conducting the behind the wheel portion of your training.
Do you have to have a permit to take the class? You do not have to have your permit to take the 8-hour class, but you do need to have one to begin your behind-the-wheel (BTW) lessons.
Do you offer the permit test? Yes, you make take the permit (Knowledge) test at our office. There is no fee for this test. Once you pass the test, you take the results to the DMV and they print the actual SC permit.
Do you offer the SC road test? Yes, you may take a 3rd Party Road Test with us. You must have a valid SC permit and you must have held that permit a minimum of 180 days before the state of SC allows you to take a road test (no matter what your age is).
If I am not successful the first time I test, can I retest? If you are unsuccessful the first time you take the permit test, you may retest the next business day (again no charge). If you are unsuccessful the first time you take the road test, you may retest 1 additional time at no charge, but must wait 2 business days by SC state law. If you are unsuccessful a second time, you must wait another 1 week before retesting. The fee is $25 for each additional retest. If you are unsuccessful a 3rd time the law requires you wait 30 days before retesting.
Do you pick us up for our lessons? We will pick you up and drop you off after the lesson if you live within a 30-minute drive of the office. You may contact the office to see if your address meets that requirement. We travel to all of Summerville, Ladson, Goose Creek, most of Moncks Corner and Ridgeville, parts of N Charleston and parts of Hanahan. If you are outside of that 30-minute radius, we can find a spot to meet in between.
When is payment due? A $100 deposit is due at the time of registration and all balances are due the day of the 8-hour class. If you are booking a Defensive Driver or 4 Pt Reduction class, payment is due at booking. If you are booking a 3rd Party Road Test, payment is due at booking.
What is your refund policy? Refunds will not be issued after the students scheduled eight (8) hour class date. A partial refund will be issued prior to the class date. We will retain a $50 processing fee plus the 3% transaction fee charged by our bank as a service fee. If you book private lessons or a road test (then cancel after they are schedule) the fee is 10% of the price, plus the bank charge of 3%. If it is a Defensive Driver or 4 Pt Reduction the fee is 10% of class price, plus the bank charge of 3%. If you book something and then simply change your mind before any work is done on our part, we retain 6% of the amount (3% the bank charges when the funds come in and 3% when we refund them).
